cricket again

After reading this verdict, I was wondering if this really is the batting line-up to die for. Of course the big three have numbers to show for but to deliver when matter must be another story. A sport for which entire nation (and its expats I might add) looks up to, we don’t have a single major trophy in our cabinet. Just winning a match is not enough we have to start winning series that too some big ones. World cup? Nothing wrong in dreaming…!!!

========================================

I didn’t watch most of the matches recently but don’t feel like missing anything. Tired of it? Results as expected? Following on internet? Following other sports? All of the above :)

A Stroll

A juice & a tomato soup at cool joint, samosa chat & holige at adyar ananda bhavan, capsicum & chili bonda bhajis and a tender coconut! These are the accomplishments on a lazy holiday evening with friends in bangalore.

check out "marco polo" on DVG rd and "show off" for all hi-fi designer (read zing-zang) clothes. You might really end up buying something!

Old war horses...

... win again and how. Warne, Kumble and Murali played a major hand in their team wins today. Warne, I think, is the strongest weapon Australia has among their team of invincible. To keep on bowling long spells at his age, that too of such quality tells a lot about the character that he is. Every ball is a wicket taking one & one moment of lapse of concentration for a batsman can spell doom. Sheer Genius.

Kumble and Murali are more hard-working types, but make no mistake, can single handedly win games for you as they have done on innumerable occasions. First-ever test win in South Africa was surely a moment to savor and Kumble made sure he is the man on whom the captain can depend on. Murali has a greater influence on sri lankan fortunes and it showed when the team management opted to bat first just to give him a go at a fourth inning pitch.

All in all, good cricket going on all around. But disappointed to see ashes getting decided so early. After such a great series last year and the hype this year, England was completely outplayed at the end of each test.

Keep it coming...

sporty people

It’s really disappointing to see the current sports scene in India. I know it’s easy to just write about then go and perform out there, but once you are competing at the international level, you should at least fight evenly!

Look at the medals table at the Doha Asian games. India is not even in top three. Hockey team lost to China! Tennis team is… er… not playing as a team. Sania has not won any major tournament but our TOI only recognizes her in the Indian contingent group photo and forgets to name others!

Not a single Indian plays among countless divisions/clubs in European football. Our favorite celebrity sport team is back to square one after trying out lot of youngsters.

Problems may be with our attitude towards sports and infrastructure itself, but really looking forward to some glorious days…what say?

Hometown saga

When I visited my native place Shimoga over the weekend I realised it may be last few months before I stop calling this place my home town. My folks may be coming down here to stay with me in those few months time. I seem to recall all those childhood memories - my first tricycle, first gang, first school, first prize, first bicycle & the accident etc etc....I also noticed how laid back and relaxed is the atmosphere there.. those beautiful hilly background.. that sweet tunga water.. those muddy roads.. Also the change time has brought upon our family and the surroundings. From being the little kid crying for every toy I see - to - crying all the way to that preschool - to - that fierce competition for standing first in the class - to - that public exams - to - that student studying far off and - to - being the professional.

So now its time to take some big decisions. Hope that Shimoga has taught me a lesson or two in taking them.

What & What not?

I just don't seem to decide what to write about on this blog. Don't want to share too much of personal issues. Dont believe anything's going to change if I write on public issues. Nothing much happens inside a cubicle also to write about. Gibberish? nah, not yet.

Until then, will just blabber whatever comes to mind! probably thats what a blog is for? Don't know but be patient with this amateur!

After another cancelled trip over the weekend, bought tickets to watch omkara today. Hope it will be good. First day show? Hmmm. Thats happening a lot of times these days.

Lot of excitement surrounding the movie though. The director had done a good job with maqbool . People are expecting the same. We always do!

Review of omkara? Lets see...
